Mercy Githanji
Executive Director / Head, Stanbic Kenya Foundation
Mercy holds an MBA in Project Management and Consultancy from the University of East London, UK, and a BSc (Hons) in Financial Services from the University of Manchester, UK. She also holds a Human Resource Diploma from IHRM-K, Kenya, and is a certified ICF Professional Coach.

She began her career in banking before moving into the development sector, working with USAID implementing partners such as Winrock International, DAI, IREX, and SOCHA LLC to advance youth leadership, agricultural sector capacity, organizational change, and localization initiatives. Today, she brings that combined expertise back to banking as CEO of Stanbic Kenya Foundation, driving programs that deliver sustainable social and economic impact.

Under her leadership, the Foundation focuses on four pillars: Economic Empowerment, Education, Digital Skills, and Climate Resilience, equipping communities with knowledge, tools and opportunities to thrive. Previously, as Country Director & Eastern Africa Regional Manager for the Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF), Mercy oversaw programs across 14 countries, strengthening youth leadership and organizational development across Sub-Saharan Africa.

She is passionate about mentorship, team coaching, and building high-performing organizations, with a proven track record of fostering partnerships and advancing inclusive leadership.
